SOME COMMON ERRORS

 SOME COMMON MISTAKES MADE BY STUDENTS WHILE MAKING SENTENCES

1.Do you like to heard a song?

Do you like to HEAR a song?

With DO the main verb always comes in BASIC(FIRST) form.

2.Does he loves song?

Does he LOVE songs?

With DOES the main verb always comes in BASIC(FIRST) form.

4.Am i compose a song?

Am I COMPOSING a song?

With AM the main verb always comes in -ING(THIRD) form.

5. Is there is a movie song?

Is there a movie song on this mobile?

There is no need of two "is" here ie., two main verbs are not needed.

7.Was your song as a romantic song?

Was you song a romantic song?

AS is not needed here.

9.Has your song any impact to others?

Has your song MADE an impact on others?

"Has" is the supporting verb here, so a MAIN VERB is needed.

10.Have you enjoy the song?

Have you ENJOYED the song?

With HAVE as the supporting verb the main verb comes in the FIFTH form.

40 SENTENCES

STATE

I am a student.

I was a student.

I will be a student.

I have been a student for four years.


POSSESSION

You have a class.
You had a class.
You will have a class.

REAL FACT

There is a class today.
There was a class yesterday/today.
There will be a class tomorrow.

ACTION

1. She plays badminton.
2. She likes badminton.
3. She is playing badminton now.
4. She is playing badminton in the evening.
5. She has been playing badminton for two hours.
6. She has played badminton for her college team.
7. She played badminton yesterday.
8. She was playing badminton yesterday.
9. She will play badminton tomorrow.
10. She will be playing badminton tomorrow.

PASSIVE VOICE

1. Badminton is played by her.
2. Badminton is liked by her.
3. Badminton is being played by her now.
4. Badminton is being played by her in the evening.
5. Badminton has been played by her for her school team.
6. Badminton was played by her yesterday.
7. Badminton was being played by her yesterday.
8. Badminton will be played by her tomorrow.

There are no passive voice sentences for "She has been playing Badminton" and "She will be playing Badminton" type of sentences.

MODAL VERBS
1. I can help you.
2. I could help you.
3. I shall help you.
4. I should help you.
5. I may help you.
6. I might help you.
7. I must help you.
8. I would like to help you.
9. I have to help you.
10. I need to help you.
11. I ought to help you.
12. I used to help you.

CAN, COULD, SHALL, SHOULD, MAY, MIGHT, MUST, WOULD, NEED TO, HAVE TO, OUGHT TO, USE TO are called modal verbs.

So now we have seen 40 types of sentences. A small task....please make yes or no questions using these 40 types of sentences.

There is no YES/NO question with MIGHT.
The verb used to ask questions are: 1. DO / 2. DOES 3. AM / 4. IS /5. ARE 6. WAS / 7. WERE 8. HAVE / 9. HAS 10. WILL / 11. DID 12. WOULD (Modal Verbs) These verbs are called CONVERSATIONAL VERBS as they help in starting and sustaining a conversation.
